Hi,
As my monitor (Viewsonic vx2025ws) does not have a driver for Vista and I need a driver apart from the standard driver to get some games to run in widescreen, I was wondering if Vista has any inbuilt drivers, specific for a widescreen 1680*1050 or higher monitor that I could 'force install'?
Also if anyone knows of any working downloadable drivers from monitor makers that support 1680*1050 I'd be willing to try those as well.

What about using Powerstrip or similar to create a custom .inf file for
your monitor?

I didn't know something like that was possible, I'll try this one after work tonight. In the meantime, more suggestions are allways wellcomed.
Well I tried creating the custom inf in powerstrip, this results in the following error:
"The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request"
Managed to locate the x64 inf for my monitor as well, the sneaky Viewsonic install routine deletes all inf & icm files apart from the correct ICM for the monitor at the end of the install, hence why I wasn't able to find it earlier, but again I get the same error as with the powerstrip custom inf.
I'd wellcome any hints to help me solve this.
My Dell monitor(1680x1050) shows up as Generic PnP monitor in Vista x86 and 64bit, but works in widescreen in Vista and Oblivion. Is there a particular game(that is nmade to run widescreen) that does not realise your monitor can handle it? If I have the game, or access to it, I will see if it will work.
Needless to say Dell does not have any info about this monitor on their site.

Yes, the game in question is World of Warcraft, many of it's players have this issue but I heard it works if you have the correct monitor driver for Vista.
Offcourse the hard part seems to be finding a working driver apart from the Vista generic P&P one... also me choosing the x64 version is probably not making my case any easier either.
